Satuday night supper

I cleaned out the fridge yesterday and washed all the shelves and drawers.  Whew!  It's a big job but a rewarding one.  Now, it looks like a brand new refrigerator.  Didn't do the freezer side, since it's pretty packed with stuff.  I'll tackle that when it's a good bit emptier.

I had a pound of kielbasa-type beef sausage that I needed to use up, so I made a potato sausage bake for supper.  I got the recipe off Allrecipes.com.  I like that website because there are reviews and you can see how people adapted the recipe to suit their personal tastes.  Here's what I did:

Sliced up the sausage and combined it with sliced carrots, diced potatoes, and diced onion.  Over that I poured 1 can of cream of mushroom soup (lower sodium) and 1 can of broccoli cheese soup, 1/2 cup sour cream, and plenty of seasonings (paprika, garlic powder, black pepper, and parsley).  Did not add salt, because there was plenty in the ingredients.  Put it all into a 9 x 13 pan and covered it with a light sprinkling of sharp cheddar cheese.  Covered with foil and baked for almost an hour and a half at 350, uncovered it and baked for another 15 minutes.

It was tasty and different for us.  We're not big sausage eaters, but this was a good dish and could easily be changed up to add different veggies and flavors.
