My little corner of the world

So, I had my spine surgery, two weeks ago today.  The surgeon said everything looked good, and now I'm on that lengthy road to healing.  I want to write about that, but not just yet.  I'm still processing things that happened, but I will be sharing more on that soon.

But for today, I just had a big victory.  I walked down to the corner and back...YAY!  It took me 10 minutes to do it (I told Steve the other day that I am moving like Mrs. ah-Whiggins).  But that's okay.  Slow and steady is my new mantra.

Our yard is bursting with spring flowers and beautiful colors, and that's really what I wanted to share today.  Here are some pictures of how it looks this morning.

I hope you are having a very good day in your little corner of the world.

Happy Spring!

Today is a beautiful day here in Memphis, Tennessee.  The temperature is in the low 70s, there is very little humidity, and a nice breeze is steadily blowing.  So why am I stuck in the house today, doing spring cleaning?  I guess I am trying (no, I KNOW I am trying) to be as ready as I possibly can be for my surgery.  It is scheduled for a week from Monday, and I know I'll be down for the count as far as housework is concerned for quite some time, which is kind of freaking me out. So ...I do a little, then sit a little, then do a little more, and so on.  I long for the day when I can do what I want to do without pain and numbness, and fervently hope that that day comes.

I have been juicing for the past week.  I watched a couple of food documentaries a couple weeks ago on Netflix, and they really struck a chord with me.  Food Matters and Fat, Sick, and Nearly Dead.  They were both very interesting and very motivating.  I had an ancient Cuisinart juicer (and I do mean ancient), but it just couldn't really handle the greens and hard veggies.  So my dearest got me a brand new juicer from his favorite go-to place, Amazon.  I love it!  It's a Breville, and it's super fast and perfect for my needs.  So, I'm juicing things like kale, spinach, romaine, celery, carrots, bell peppers, apples, pears, oranges, and pineapples in various combinations.  And finding them all very tasty.
